Ike Week
Thursday, Sept. 11th: Preparing for Ike..Andy and I planned on staying at home in Houston..so we ventured out the Walmart to pick up batteries, peanut butter (for Andy..gross), and cookies...haha..We had all of our other stuff already. The lines at Walmart were ridiculous. You should have seen the aisle for flashlights..totally bare. Don't all people have 50 flashlights around there house like we do?
Friday, Sept. 12th: Andy is up bright and early as usual. He ventures out to look for some converters..but of course no luck..all sold out. However he does manage to snag the last remaining 2 from radio shack, only to give one of them to some poor lady looking for one as well.. Sweet Boy.. This is when I get THE call from Andy..we talk it over and thats when I get up and start packing to head to Plantersville, leaving Andy and Maya to ride the storm out in Houston. We get to Plantersville later that morning and get to hang out with Grandma and Grandpa, and Uncle Chris and Aunt Megan.
Saturday, Sept. 13th: 5 am- Tucker and I awake to howling winds beating the windows in our room. We venture out of our room to find everyone else already awake!! At that moment our lights go out..and the wind gets even crazier. We're all watching the windows vibrate, hoping they don't break..Watching the fans outside under the patio break and send fan blades shooting off into the darkness. Tucker is of course calm, hungry as usual, just chillin... 7 am- We all try to lay back down to catch some sleep..We're all congregated in the media room, waiting for the moment when we feel like we should migrate to the "safe, window-free" room. We never felt like we needed to go in there. 9am- We're all up now. The winds are still pretty strong, and now the rain has started. I've talked to Andy several times throughout the morning. He said the house felt like it was vibrating and that the windows were going to give out. Thankfully they didn't. At one point, there was some debris that had flown into our backyard, but it was too dark to tell what it was..However it was gone whenever the sun came up the following morning. But it did manage to break a fence post in half on its way out.. Who knows what it was... The rest of that day we just hung out...watching the rain, eating, and making fun of the lop sided fans..Oh and the power came back on in Plantersville that evening!! What a miracle...
Sunday, Sept. 14th: The wind has subsided..just lots of rain now. Just hanging out...Aunt Megan and Uncle Chris head back to school. Andy is picking up the house and yard, and is plugged into our neighbor's generator for a fan and a light..And thankfully we had a cool front blow in..
Monday, Sept. 15-Friday, Sept 19th: Tucker and I hang out in Plantersville in the lit-rooms and air condition. We both get so spoiled whenever we are there. Grandma and Grandpa love having Tucker there, and I know Tucker loves all their kisses and attention. =) We both get well-fed and well-rested whenever we're there. Also on several of the days, we take road trips..One to Baytown to check on a crane Grandpa sold, and one to College Station in hopes of finding gasoline!! We did get gas in College Station and the next day we went back to C.S. to walk around shops and do alittle shopping too!
Friday, Sept. 19th: Because Mommy missed Daddy soo much, and Daddy missed Tucker soo much (haha) we headed back to Houston today regardless of the fact that we still didn't have power on at our house. The plan was to pray that we got it back that day, and if we didn't then to head to Mellie's house until it came back on. At least then Tucker and I could see Andy in the evenings after work. And still be in the air-condition. (Mellie had gotten her power back on sometime that week. ) Tucker was so excited to see his Daddy and vice-versa. So cute to see the big grin on his face whenever he heard Andy's voice. And no luck, still no power...
Saturday, Sept. 20th: Today we hung out all day with Mellie..She saw tons of smiles and giggles out of Tucker. We also got to see Uncle Clark too! We had a laundry party and ate hamburgers. Yummy!! Also had a trip to Walmart to see lots of empty shelves.. And Mellie made us delicious cookies..
Sunday, Sept. 21st: Happy 4 months Tucker!!! And the best present of all...POWER!!!! Yay..We are now back at our home safe and sound. It was fun being traveling gypsies..but it's always good to be at home too. Thank you to Grandma, Grandpa and Mellie for having us in your homes..We sure had fun! It's 9:30 pm here and Tucker has been down for 2 hours..haha..I think he's happy to be home too. We're all looking forward to getting back on a schedule.
Plans for the Upcoming Week: Restock our fridge and freezer, on Tuesday Tucker has his 4 month doctor visit with (boo hoo) more shots, buy Maya some socks cause she's driving us crazy walking on the wood floor, lots of laundry, look for Halloween costume for Tucker..and who knows what else...
That's all for now..I'm about to fall asleep at the desk..Hope this finds everyone well...Peace!
